Elizabeth White

     I do the work I do because I love sculpting and designing things with my hands. My goals were to design a piece that every one will enjoy. Another goal was to push myself.

     Before I create an artwork, I sit and try to envision it in my mind and sketch out what I want, while creating it I take breaks and sit back and see if the project is turning out the way I want it to, afterwards I determine what glaze should be used on the project. I select materials, techniques and themes based off of the assignments that are given to me, like if I'm given a project that has to deal with the environment, I would sculpt a tree. For one of my projects I made an elephant. The assignment was a content project. The elephant didn't have any tusks, to symbolize poaching for ivory. 

     My most current work involves sculpting. I used to throw on the wheel a lot before, but I wanted to challenge myself. I wanted to challenge myself because I made the same things over and over again.
